Artifice!
So I’m starting a magazine. Also on board is Rebekah Silverman, the former Ed-in-Chief of Sycamore Review (responsible for the hot new design of that journal a few years back). The magazine’s name, as you may have figured out from the title of this post, is Artifice, and it will publish “fiction and poetry aware of its own artifice”—think Dean Young, Grace Paley, Quan Barry, George Saunders, etc, etc. It’s in its pre-magazine larval stages, but you can check where we’re at here: artificemag.com. Silverman and I will be serving up a series of blog posts entitled “How to Start a Literary Magazine,” consisting of reports on whatever it is we’re doing to start this literary magazine.
